Vernal Utah Temple

Vernal Utah Temple

The road from Flaming Gorge to Vernal is spectacular! Unfortunately I couldn't find any places to stop and take spectacular photos. But coming down out of the Uintas (or going up into them if you are heading north) you navigate ten (count' em--ten) switchback curves! Utah is indeed a beautiful place.

The LDS church has had an administrative center and tabernacle here in this isolated area since the beginning of the 20th century, but a few years ago they decided to make the tabernacle into a temple. They completely remodeled the interior, leaving the outer walls intact. So the outer walls are about 100 years old, but inside it's new.
