Beacon Hill Area of Boston

Beacon Hill area of Boston

Well. Here I am in Boston. Had a fairly good flight from home in Vancouver, Washington. Got in too late to do much, so the next morning I went for a walk from the hotel to the Beacon Hill area, about a 20 minute walk. I shot a few scenes; I really liked this one, the old narrow street through Boston's historic section.

Another street scene.

Swedenborgian Church

Swedenborgian Church? There's one I never heard of before. Churches sometimes have strange names. When I got back to the hotel, I looked up Swedenborgian Church, and found that it is a two-hundred year-old denomination with congregations all over the US, Canada, and in Europe. It was named after its founder, Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), who was Swedish. If you want to know more about it, Google "Swedenborgian."

This sculpture, "Thermopylae," in the JFK Plaza, was interesting.

The bridgee connected with the Big Dig

That's the bridge which is a part of the "Big Dig," Boston's new tunnel / bridge / freeway complex from downtown to Logan International Airport. It wasn't quite open yet when I was there.

Free Speech in Boston

Ah! Free speech in Boston. I agree with the message, although not the medium. Boston is called "The Cradle of Liberty"; we owe much to the old patriots who demanded their own rights and the rights of us all.

I didn't do Boston justice. I should have scheduled several days there and did some tours and become more knowledgeable. But I didn't, except for a few specific places, which are on their own pages.
