Ferry Farm

Ferry Farm where George Washington grew up

Most of George Washington's formative years were spent at Ferry Farm, a plantation across the Rappahannack from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where in those days there was a ferry. This is where he supposedly chopped down the cherry tree. All the buildings were constructed of wood, and are long gone. As of 2003, Ferry Farm is mostly an archaeological site.
